Holiday lights flashback: 2008 winner

About 7,000 lights and a yard full of reindeer and candy canes helped Tom Johnson of Streamwood win the Daily Herald holiday lights contest in 2008.

Johnson didn't rely just on the lights; he invested nearly 500 hours in building his display with artistry and detail.

“Many houses rely heavily on lights but I want to give people more to look at,” said Johnson. “There are several themes throughout.”
