Defendant fights with Lake County deputies after guilty verdict

A defendant in a drug case attacked a deputy and tried to escape from a Lake County courtroom but was captured before he could flee, authorities said Friday.

Keevan Fullwiley, 35, of the 2300 block of 33rd Street in Zion, was shot with a stun gun and restrained Thursday after he fought with sheriff’s deputies at the Waukegan courthouse, Lake County sheriff’s police said.

Charges are pending.

The escape attempt occurred after Fullwiley was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, police said.

One deputy suffered a cut on his elbow and other injuries. He was treated at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan.
