DOWNERS GROVE- -Hip Hop dance is an audience pleasing and exciting dance form featured on TV, in movies and performed in theatre venues all over the United States. This energetic dance genre includes many styles such as Popping, Locking and Break Dancing first introduced in the 1970's and has grown to include unique contemporary styles such as Krumping, Footwork and Tutting among many other forms.

This December DLD Dance Company will present its 1st Annual Dance Showcase, a full professional dance concert that incorporates many styles of Hip Hop as well as other popular dance genres such as Contemporary and Jazz. DLD Dance Company will perform a new collection of dance works for this benefit concert.

The hour and a half dance concert will feature solos from each of the professional company members in their specialized styles of dance, group works from the company's repertoire as well as new dance piece by Director Dyanna Daniels titled Do It Like a Dude and Assistant Choreographer Tony Wilder's Unashamed. Do It Like a Dude is a work performed by the entire DLD Dance Company performed to music by recording artist Jessie J. Do It Like a Dude depicts the formidable strength of female dancers when matched against their male counterparts.

Another featured dance work is a premiere by Assistant Choreographer Tony Wilder titled Unashamed. Mr. Wilder describes the music and emotions that inspired this piece, “Over the past couple of years I have become more and more disappointed with the hip hop music that is being played on the radio. Through their self-fulfilling lyrics I am taught that the measure of my success and worth is in the size of my bank account and the number of girls on my arm. I wanted to choreograph a piece using music that I was proud to dance to. The rappers I have chosen to use have a desire to start a movement in the hip-hop genre. While staying true to authentic hip-hop, their lyrics encourage humility and living for something greater than yourself. It is through their music that I am inspired to live unashamed of this message.”

DLD Dance Company features dancer's trained in numerous genres of dance and presents a concert showcasing their eclectic mix of dance skills meant to entertain audiences of all ages. An inexpensive and quality presentation, DLD Dance Company's Annual Showcase is a great option for family entertainment.
