Motorists can expect lengthy delays as work continues on the widening of Route 21 (Milwaukee Avenue) in Libertyville. The placement of hot mix asphalt over all temporary residential/commercial driveways and side streets within the project limits is scheduled to begin on Wednesday and will continue until Saturday, Dec. 1. Asphalt will be placed on all driveways on the south side of Route 137 -- east and west of Route 21 -- and, on all driveways on the west side of Route 21 from Casey Road to Finstad Drive. Due to the asphalt trucks and paving equipment moving in and out of open lanes of routes 21 and 137, significant traffic delays are expected. Flaggers will assist the traffic as and when needed while the driveways are paved. Routes 21 and 137 may be reduced to one lane of traffic for short periods if the paving operation encroaches on the open lane.
