Too many preemies

Too many preemies

One of eight babies in Illinois are born prematurely. Hospitals and advocacy groups are trying to reduce those numbers through these recommendations to state lawmakers:

타 Better tracking of data to determine risk factors for premature births and best treatment options

타 Eliminate elective early deliveries

타 Prenatal education for Medicaid-eligible women who are at risk for preterm births

타 Reduce racial and ethnic disparities in pregnancy outcomes.
