Quinn grants clemency to 81
Gov. Pat Quinn on Wednesday granted 81 clemency petitions and denied 88, according to a news release from his office.
This action marks another step in a series of clemency decisions aimed at eliminating a backlog of more than 2,500 cases that built up during the previous administration, the news release said.
Since taking office, Quinn has acted on 2,237 clemency petitions, granting 842 and denying 1,395.
