One firefighter suffered minor injuries in an early morning fire Sunday in Deer Park. Firefighters were called to the home in the 21000 block of Sumac Court at 9:06 a.m. and saw smoke showing through the front door. Firefighters traced the smoke to a couch in the basement that had caught fire, officials said. The couch was doused, but the home had water, heat and smoke damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said. Two occupants of the home were not injured. The injured firefighter was treated at the scene. Due to a lack of hydrants in the area, the Lake Zurich firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Cary, Countryside, Deerfield, Fox River Grove, Lake Villa, Libertyville, Long Grove, Nunda, Wauconda and Wheeling.
