British actor Patrick Stewart may be best-known for key roles in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "X-Men," but he's also adept at comedy, too. Local audiences have the potential to see this now that Stewart has been announced as a co-host for "The Second City Guide to the Opera," a collaboration between the Lyric Opera of Chicago and The Second City.

Stewart will join Lyric creative consultant Renée Fleming and several actors from the famed Chicago sketch and improv comedy institution for the performance, which is slated for 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Civic Opera House in Chicago. Tickets range from $25-$95. Call (312) 332-2244 or visit lyricopera.org for more information.
