Pick up Gurnee park board election petitions

Three seats on the five-member Gurnee Park District Board of Commissioners will be filled at the April 9 consolidated election. These seats are currently held by Victoria Paddock, Libby Baker and Jim Goshorn.

Each term of office is four years. An individual interested in running for office must be a registered voter and a Gurnee Park District resident for at least one year prior to election day. Park board positions are unpaid.

Candidate materials are available and may be picked up at the Viking Park administrative office at 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee. Park district office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Nominating petitions are available. The petition filing period for the April election is 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, through 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at the park district office, 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee. A minimum of 48 registered voters’ signatures are required in order to be placed on the ballot. Although the Viking Park office will be closed for regular business on Dec. 24, the office will be open for anyone wishing to file his or her petition. The office is closed Saturdays and Sundays.
