The Arlington Heights School District 25 school board and the Service Employees International Union Local 73 have reached an agreement on a five-year contract for custodial and maintenance employees. The union unanimously ratified the agreement Nov. 6 and the school board approved the contract at its Nov. 15 meeting. The contract allows the board to stay within its parameters of maintaining a fiscally responsible budget and aligning operational expenses such as salaries and benefits with revenues, according to a district news release. The proposed agreement also meets the union's objectives of obtaining a fair contract that remains competitive with other districts. The new contract is in effect starting July 1, 2013, and is posted on the district website.
