Elgin's Wonder Hostess Bakery Thrift Shop was a popular place Friday after news of the longtime bakery company going out of business made its way around the Elgin area. A strike by the union representing the bakers at Hostess could not be resolved, forcing the snack maker to announce it would go out of business. Gilberts resident Dave Scurto stopped by the Wonder Hostess Thrift Shop in Elgin Friday afternoon to pick up some treats after he heard the store would be closing. “I remember them from when I was a kid,” Scurto said.
