Palatine continues former gas station cleanup
Palatine officials are continuing cleanup efforts at the site of a former gas station at 5 W. Palatine Road, saying they hope the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency will determine within a year that no further remediation is necessary. The village council Monday approved paying Shaw Environmental in St. Charles up to $39,400 for additional soil and groundwater sampling and the preparation for both a site investigation completion report and application for reimbursement of eligible expenses. A majority of the cost is expected to be funded by the environmental escrow established when the village acquired the property.
