Lombard voters impose term limits

text size: AAA

Term limits for village-level elected officials will be implemented in Lombard after voters approved limits by a 4-to-1 ratio, according to unofficial results with all 48 precincts reporting.

The village president, clerk and trustees will be prohibited from serving more than three consecutive 4-year terms in the same office. Terms begin counting toward the limit after the April 2013 election.

The binding question about term limits was added to the ballot after voters approved a similar, but nonbinding question in April 2011.
