Eating out: Get to know Silk Asian Tavern at open house

New pan-Asian tavern in Vernon Hills

Sample Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean and Vietnamese dishes at Silk Asian Tavern, Vernon Hills' new pan-Asian eatery. Try the lunch buffet Monday through Friday. Signature dishes include Chen du chicken — a Szechuan-style chicken; the honey peach shrimp; the pork belly robatayaki; and the soft shell crab roll. Stop in between 3 and 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, for an open house and enjoy appetizers, beer and soft drinks for $20 per person.

CiNe now open

A modern-day taqueria recently opened in downtown Hinsdale. Open for dinner six days a week, CiNe offers family-friendly contemporary Mexican dining. The bar menu includes small-plate options like tacos, seviche and tortas, as well as signature margaritas, mezcal cocktails and micheladas. The eatery is owned by Peter and Dana Burdi, familiar faces in the Hinsdale restaurant community, who also own downtown favorites Il Poggiolo and nabuki.

Peacock's makeover

Peacock Indian Restaurant celebrates 20 years in business by adding its Mumbai Bistro menu. The new menu includes snacks, such as Pav Bhaji, Bhel Puri and Ragda Patties, that will be served all day Monday through Thursday.
