The MAC Presents Leahy ‘A Family Christmas’ Dec. 1 at Dominican University

Leahy, a Canadian family of folk musicians, performs a Christmas blend of fiddle-driven music, dance and vocals at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Dominican University through a partnership with the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage.

The Dec. 1 concert will be held in the Fine Arts Center at Dominican University, 7900 W. Division St. in River Forest.

Throughout the 2012-2013 season, the McAninch Arts Center is teaming with Fermilab and a number of area venues while the 25-year-old MAC undergoes a $35 million renovation project.

The eight-member band of siblings has been touring internationally since the 1980s and were the subject of the 1986 Best Foreign Student Film Oscar-winning film “Leahy: Music Most of All.” “A Family Christmas” features Christmas favorites, original season songs as well as well as Leahy’s traditional fare.”

The Juno Award-winning group members are instrumentalists and dancers and female members often perform step-dancing-style routines. The group also has recorded five albums and opened for Shania Twain during her 1998 “Come On Over” tour.

Tickets to Leahy are $33 for adults, $31 for seniors and $23 for College of DuPage students and youth.
