Probably the most charming and endearing home in Arlington Heights, built shortly after the conclusion of the Civil War, is on the market.
The exterior of this piece of local history features Victorian-style wooden scrolling around the porches, doors and windows, as well as some French Provincial details that were added later.
The original owners, the Dunton family, were very prominent in Arlington Heights during the 1800s, so the home was built with exquisite craftsmanship. There are two porches, two fireplaces, a full basement and a full third floor that can be reached by a staircase. In 1871, residents of Arlington Heights stood on the roof of this home to watch the Great Chicago Fire, which was taking place 22 miles away.
