Illinois State Horse Bowl Team Takes Second at AQHA Congress

The Illinois State Horse Bowl Team (DuPage County Just Say Nay 4H Club members) competed at Quarter Horse Congress on October 16th in Columbus, Ohio. There were 21 teams from all over the country. They placed 2nd after losing the tie breaker to North Carolina. It was so close!

The Horse Bowl Contest is designed to offer an opportunity for youths interested in horses to display the knowledge they have gained in a competitive and friendly atmosphere. Additionally, it is designed to encourage youths and leaders to study and obtain a more thorough and complete knowledge of horses and related subject matter.

In individual awards Molly McGhee tied for first place in a 3 way tie for high score ending up 3rd after the tie breaker. Kayleigh Pivonka tied for 2nd highest score and received 5th place overall.

On the team is the Kayleigh Pivonka, Molly McGhee, Annalise Kass, Erica Engel, and Sarah Elhers coached by Debbie and Karen Woznicki. They will also be representing Illinois at the Eastern National 4H Horse Round-up Competition in Louisville, Ky on November 3. Good Luck to them!!
