Christian chorus to perform Sunday in Des Plaines

The Spirit of Life Chorus will present its Fall 2012 Concert “One Child Can Change the World” Sunday, Oct. 28, at Christ Church in Des Plaines, with performances to follow each Sunday through Dec. 2 at other churches in the city and suburbs.

The chorus is more than 90 members strong, an ecumenical Christian concert chorus performing in church sanctuaries and auditoriums throughout northern Illinois in the spring and fall.

Sunday’s performance at 4:30 p.m. at Christ Church United Church of Christ, 1492 Henry Ave.,

Sunday. Donations of nonperishable food items for the Des Plaines Self-Help Closet will be accepted at the concert. The group performed Oct. 13 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights.

Upcoming concerts are 4 p.m. Nov. 4 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 950 Hart Road, Batavia; 4:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at First United Methodist Church, 201 W. South St., Woodstock; 4 p.m. Nov. 18 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1025 E. Madison St., Lombard; 4:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 4434 N. Laramie, Chicago; and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at St. Walter Catholic Church, 201 W. Maple Ave., Roselle.

Formed in the fall of 1989 with 17 charter members, it has developed a solid, musical reputation of dynamic concerts with strong emotional appeal. “Spirit” style music is presented with a joyous dedication to bringing the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to all who listen.

Twelve years ago, the group’s members dedicated themselves to singing two concerts each year as benefits for worthy organizations, causes, families and individuals. To date, the chorus has helped to raise more than $239,000 from donations and corporate contributions from those events.
