Navy Halloween celebration

Great Lakes Naval Station’s museum will host a haunted Halloween celebration at 1 p.m. Saturday. It’s free and open to the public. At the celebration, children will have an opportunity to decorate their own sailor’s white hat, receive special Halloween treats and hear naval-themed ghost stories told by museum volunteers. Children are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costume. The Great Lakes museum’s mission is to select, collect, preserve and interpret the history of the Navy. There is a particular emphasis on Great Lakes being the Navy’s boot camp. The museum is at base’s main gate off Sheridan Road north of Route 137 near North Chicago. Parking is free. For more information, call (847) 688-3154 or email glnm@navy.mil.
