Marching Mustangs complete successful season at Sandwich festival

The Rolling Meadows High School Marching Mustangs completed a successful competitive season Oct. 21, at the Sandwich Renegade Musicfest.

In the parade category, the Rolling Meadows High School marching ensemble captured first place overall and in its class. In Class AA Field Show, the group took second place overall, first place Best Color Guard and second place Best Drums. The group also received the highest combined score (for Parade and Field Show), qualifying as overall Grand Champion.

“Our goal for the group is that every time they take the field, it is the best performance of the season up to that date,” said director Christopher Buti. “The performance at Sandwich was by far the best and cleanest performance of the season.”

This year’s show, “Urban Pulse,” features contemporary music and many soloists, intricate drill maneuvers, vibrant flag colors and fun color guard choreography. Soloists at Sandwich included Jamie Brunskill and Wesley Carroll on trumpet, Andrew Vinopal on trombone, Roman Voskoboynikov on alto sax and Joanna Leung and Danielle Sioui for Color Guard.

The award-winning Marching Mustangs will perform during a home football Playoff Game on Friday, Oct. 26. For information, contact the Band Office at (847) 718-5752.
