About this Article

The lack of ball movement for No. 1 seed St. Charles East against a pesky, physical Streamwood squad sure didn’t seem to stop the Fighting Saints. East just made up for it with smart passes on two key advances in front of the net that turned to gold. Especially, the unselfish passes that were mirror-images of each other from Taylor Ortiz and Andrew Shone helped Eric Dietrich and TC Hull notch first-half goals en route to a 4-0 St. Charles East (19-2-1) win over the No. 4 seed Sabres (13-8) in a Class 3A York sectional semifinal in Elmhurst Tuesday. East advances to Friday’s sectional championship against No. 3 Larkin Friday at 4:30 p.m. Larkin beat South Elgin 2-1 in PKs in Tuesday’s second semifinal.
