Carol Stream man gets three years in child porn case

A Carol Stream man has been sentenced to three years in prison for possessing child pornography, authorities said Tuesday.

Michael T. Hackett, 27, of the 100 block of Pebble Creek Trail, pleaded guilty to aggravated child pornography and was sentenced last week by DuPage County Judge Blanche Hill Fawell. He also must register as a sex offender.

Hackett was charged in January after a five-month investigation by Carol Stream police and the Illinois attorney general's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He was accused of possessing numerous pornographic images of children generally younger than 13 on his computer, court records show.

Hackett, who lived in Carpentersville as recently as 2009, received credit toward his sentence for nine months served in the county jail.
