Nekritz good for her district and the state

I am supporting Elaine Nekritz for state representative in the 57th district because her values are similar to mine. Elaine’s views and voting record demonstrate that she is fiscally conservative and socially liberal.

Elaine works hard to find solutions to the difficult problems facing our state, jobs, budget and constituent concerns.

Rep. Nekritz did not leave Springfield last year for the summer recess but help organize a group of Democratic and Republican legislators to work on the budget problems. They came up with a billion dollars in sensible budget cuts and a proposed procedure to have the legislature involved in the budget process.

Elaine has shown independence from Madigan when she voted against operational rules in 2009. Elaine has accepted tough assignments such as the chair of the Personnel and Pensions Committee. Her proposals are a reasonable approach to a hot political and financial problem. Although no legislation to date has been passed her leadership has been recognized as having honest answers to a difficult problem.

Where I live, due to her hard work early in her first term the long-needed levee along the Des Plaines River has been completed. This will save the communities millions of dollars when high water returns.

She opposed outrageous water rate increases by Illinois American Water. Elaine assisted constituents in opposing the constant rate increases by having public hearings and assisted in involving the Attorney General’s office to help petition the ICC to limit the proposed increases. Rep. Nekritz has championed legislation to protect our children from toxic chemical in clothing.

Rep. Nekritz was the chair of the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission. This could be a $30 billion project which would create 20,000 construction jobs and add 75,000 jobs into the region.

Elaine Nekritz deserves to continue as our representative in the State House because she is strong leader with honest answers to the tough problems facing our state.
