The Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players will kick off its 2012-2013 season on Sunday, November 18 at 3 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Park Ridge with a musical journey to Russia entitled Russian Masterworks. The concert will begin with Anton Arensky Piano Trio in D minor, Opus 33 followed by Paul Juon Rhapsody for Piano Quartet, Opus 37 and conclude with Sergei Taneyev Piano Quartet in E Major.
The concerts take place at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 205 North Prospect Avenue, Park Ridge, IL 60068. Advance Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors. Tickets at the door are $20 for general admission and $15 for seniors. Students are free. Subscribe and save $9 for the season’s three concert series. The Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players will continue its three concert series on Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m. with an afternoon of delightful Café Music. The program includes Paul Schoenfield Café Music for Piano Trio and Gabriel Faure Piano Quartet No. 1 in C minor, Opus 15 and Café 1930 from L’Histoire du Tango by Astor Piazzolla. Cabaret selections arranged by Benton Wedge will also be featured.
The series wraps up with Brahms, Beethoven, Bartok on Sunday, April 14 at 3 p.m. Johannes Brahms Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano in A minor, Opus 114 will begin the program followed by Bela Bartok Contrasts for Clarinet, Violin, and Piano and concluding with Ludwig van Beethoven Piano Trio in E-flat Major, Opus 70, No 2.
The Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players featured are Ann Palen, Violin; Karl Davies, Viola; Margaret Daly, Cello; John Goodwin, Piano; Wagner Campos, Clarinet; and Donna Milanovich, Flute.
The Chicago Philharmonic Chambers Players are part of The Chicago Philharmonic Society, a musician driven, Chicago-based not-for-profit organization originally established in 1988 by the principals of the Lyric Opera Orchestra. Over the years, the core group of Lyric players has expanded to become a musical community of over 200 professional players who form the artistic strength of the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra. A central goal of the Society is to bring the excitement and experience of live music to audiences throughout metropolitan Chicago.
