Woman cut from vehicle after crash in Schaumburg

Two people were hospitalized Wednesday after a crash about 8 a.m. at Algonquin and Hammond roads in Schaumburg. According to firefighters, a car driven by a woman was leaving a fast-food restaurant to head west on Algonquin Road when her vehicle was struck in the driver’s side door by another car. The first car was pushed across lanes of traffic into a grassy area. Firefighters used a tool known as the Jaws of Life to remove the woman from the car. She and the male driver of the second car were taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to firefighters. Further details were not available Wednesday evening from Schaumburg police.
