Des Plaines teacher gets $1,000 in school supplies

More than 90 percent of teachers spend their own money on basic school supplies for their students, according to a recent survey. Recently, local OfficeMax representatives surprised Des Plaines’ Plainfield Elementary School teacher, Jennifer Bergstrom, with $1,000 worth of school supplies.

In its sixth year, the “A Day Made Better” program joins corporate efforts with Office Max customer donations to benefit teachers and their students. Nationally, more than 78,000 classrooms have been helped.
