DuPage Montessori students take art to another level
Every month the children at DuPage Montessori learn about a famous artist. They read books about each artist, learn the methods the artist used in making their art and are shown many different pieces of art from that artist.
In the DuPage Montessori kindergarten program, the children took the work of Jackson Pollack to the next level. After learning that Mr. Pollack used brushes, pitchers and other tools to splatter paint onto a large canvas the children were ready to do the same.
Using a white sheet as their canvas they splattered, dropped and poured pitchers of paint onto the large canvas.
The kindergartners enjoyed making their very own Jackson Pollack inspired art!
At DuPage Montessori, the study of art, along with science, math, language, practical life, sensorial and geography is presented in a format which enables children to understand fundamental concepts while actively participating in their own learning- by doing!
