Suburban party rock
Dot Dot Dot, an energetic pop band based in the Northwest suburbs, will perform this weekend for hometown fans. The band performs a mix of original tunes and covers from the 1980s and 1990s. All of it is high-energy and danceable, making a Dot Dot Dot show one of the best parties around.

Positive anniversary
Twenty years ago, in 1992, rap group Arrested Development released its debut album, "3 years, 5 Months, and 2 Days in the Life Of." The record brought an earthy sound and a positive message to rap just when the bleak, heavy gangsta sound was taking hold. It was a surprise hit, spawning the singles "Tennessee" and "Mr. Wendal." The band has broken up and re-formed since that auspicious debut, and it will celebrate the album's 20th anniversary with a show next week in the city. Fans of socially conscious hip-hop should check it out.

Leon Redbone has delighted fans for more than 30 years with his guitar playing and witty interpretations of classic American songs from the first half of the 20th century. Low-key and funny, Redbone and his trademark sunglasses and fedora will make a special stop in the suburbs next week.
