Grayslake history:

The history of the Baier family in Grayslake will be discussed at the Wednesday, Oct. 10 meeting of the Grayslake Historical Society. Grayslake village Trustee Shawn Vogel, a society member, will talk about the Baiers at the session at 7:30 p.m. at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free. Vogel’s great-grandfather, John Baier, owned and operated a farm on Alleghany Road. One of Vogel’s relatives once owned the Grayslake Hotel.
