This week's contest entries have a high-flying theme
Each week's DuPage County Neighbor section includes at least one entry in our Photo Finish contest.
Our photo staff picks some of their favorite submissions to run each week and then one overall monthly winner.
This week's entries have a distinct birdie theme — both the kinds that fly and the kinds that golfers hope for.
Skylar Dolecki of Bensenville says she spent two years trying to capture an image of a hummingbird before finally having success this summer by some zinnias at the Chicago Botanical Garden in Glencoe.
Van Dillenkoffer of Wheaton, meanwhile, focused his camera on Nick Faldo, a Golf Channel commentator, who shot his share of birdies on the PGA Tour, while he interacted with some European fans at the Ryder Cup. If you'd like to try your hand at submitting a photo of your own for consideration, email it in .jpg format with at least 300 dpi resolution to email@example.com.
Include your name, address and phone number, plus a description of where you took the photo and the occasion.
The monthly winner will receive a $50 gift certificate, good at PJ's Camera, Pickwick Place Plaza, 662 Roosevelt Road, Glen Ellyn.
Check back in our Neighbor section on Monday for a look at our September contest winner.
