Authorities on Friday identified the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in Libertyville.

Richard A. Heim, 70, of Mundelein was later pronounced dead at the hospital after his 2011 Toyota sedan hit a curb, left the roadway, struck a tree and rolled over on the 200 block of West Golf Road, according to Libertyville police.

The crash occurred at 4:52 a.m. across the street from Libertyville Fire Department Station No. 2. The vehicle was discovered on its roof in the roadway, police said.

The victim was extricated from the car and transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center.

Following an autopsy Friday, officials determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma due to a vehicle collision, said Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey.
