Countryside fire open house on Sunday

The Countryside Fire Protection District will host their 53rd Annual Open House & Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Oct. 7 at Station 2, 600 N. Deerpath Drive, Vernon Hills.

Pancake breakfast is $15 per family or $5 per person, includes all you can eat pancakes, sausage, fruit, juice, milk or coffee. The fire station will be open to the public for tours as well as offering several other activities and safety information exhibits.

There will be plenty of handouts and giveaways for all that attend. Children and adults alike can meet and talk with Smokey Bear.

Children that might want to crawl for fun without smoke can go through the Inflatable Pumper Fire Engine. Visitors also can learn how to become part of the Fremont Community Emergency Response Team. Dominick’s Pharmacy will be on site to give flu shots for $25. Hawthorn Wellness Center will be providing blood pressures, body mass index measurements, posture analysis, nerve testing, and massages free.
