I sure would like to know where Mr. Lanlan Hoo gets his “economic history.”
Back in the late 1970s, we were in a deep recession under the inept presidency of Democrat Jimmy Carter. Mr. Carter was defeated in his bid for re-election by Republican Ronald Reagan. Using what came to be known as “Reaganomics,” which included tax cuts, he brought us out of the recession and into a period of prosperity and job creation. He warned that this prosperity would last into the late 1990s and if nothing were done at that time, the economy would revert.
Enter Democratic President William Jefferson Clinton, who did practically nothing for eight years in office, and sure enough, in early 2000, the economy began to tank. Of course, fact challenged Democrats wrongly point to the imaginary budget “surplus” that we had under Clinton. Take out the surplus that was in Social Security at that time, and that budget “surplus” disappears.
Contrary to what Mr. Hoo implies, the Democrats want to create a government-dependent society that punishes the successful and rewards the indifferent. How do you define “self destructive?”
