Local agency supports communities with Harvest Gala Oct. 20

Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois (LCFS) will hold its 23rd Annual Harvest Gala on October 20, 2012 at the Mid-America Club, 200 East Randolph Street on the 80th floor in downtown Chicago. The Harvest Gala is LCFS' premier event to raise funds for needy individuals, children and families in communities throughout Illinois. The theme for this year's event comes from John 13:34, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” LCFS is inviting individuals and businesses to come together as a community to care for those who are too often forgotten.

Back to host this year's Gala is Linda Kollmeyer, best known as the host of lottery drawings on WGN-TV. Chicago Chef Chris Koetke will serve as auctioneer for the always-popular live auction. Chicagoan and “renaissance man” George Edward Manning, II will entertain with an eclectic mix of musical selections.

Last year's event raised more than $176,000 for LCFS programs such as adoption, foster care, counseling, youth residential care facilities and a variety of community services. This year guests will be treated to a delicious meal and exciting auctions, while at the same time functioning as a community, raising money for programs that support and care for Illinois children, families and communities. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auctions. Dinner and an exciting live auction follow at 6:30 p.m.

Registration for the 2012 Harvest Gala can be completed online at www.lcfs.org/HarvestGala. More details are also available by contacting the LCFS Special Events team at 708-488-5558 or events@lcfs.org.
