Dist. 45 superintendent seach to include parent/community forums

The School District 45 Board of Education has initiated a superintendent search to replace Dr. Janice M. Rosales, who will retire at the end of the 2012-13 school year. The Board took action to hire Dr. William C. Schewe to conduct the search. District 45 Board president Linda Nystrom commented that Dr. Schewe offers a unique perspective as he served as superintendent of the District from 1996 through the end of the 2007-08 school year.

Dr. Schewe will begin the process by conducting a series of Parent/Community Forums. The forums are planned for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) at Jackson Middle School; 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, in the LRC at Jefferson Middle School and 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, in the LRC at Jefferson Middle School.

Jackson Middle School is located at 301 W. Jackson in Villa Park and Jefferson Middle School is located at 255 W. Vermont in the garden village of Villa Park.

The Parent/Community forums are an important step in the search process. Input will be sought as to the strengths of the District and the areas needing improvement. Participants will also be encouraged to come up with a prioritized list of characteristics they find important in a new superintendent. For those that can't attend the forums, valuable input can also be given by completing a Superintendent Search survey online at the District web site, www.d45.org.

“We encourage everyone to participate in this process,” said School District 45 Board president Linda Nystrom. The Board of Education plans to complete the hiring of the superintendent for the 2013-14 school year by mid-February of 2013.
