Outlook

Prospect won the Class AA state title a year ago. Stevenson senior Stephanie Miller won the Class AA state individual title two years ago. The Knights are coming off a second-place finish at the Champaign Centennial invite where Noreen Caporusso won the championship with her season-best score of 75 (one-over-par) for a one-stroke win. The Knights are familiar with the Bonnie Dundee layout. They won the MSL crown here last fall. “It’s not a very difficult course,” said Jim Hamman, coach of the five-time defending MSL champs. “I think the scores will be low. I think it’s fun for the girls to be able to make birdies and there definitely out there to take. I think quite a few girls will go low with their scores.” Junior Heather Ciskowski won the MSL crown last week at the Buffalo Grove Golf Course followed by Grace Kil (75), Dorothy Feng (78), Ally Scaccia (79) and Kiley Walsh (81). “There are not too many hazards (at Bonnie Dundee),” Hamann said. “It’s the shortest course we play all season. We’ve just got to do a good job on the greens and have a good short game to score well.” St. Viator is coming off its East Suburban Catholic Conference championship when it scored a 340, led by Dana Gattone’s 73. Mid-Suburban League entries Elk Grove, Conant, Schaumburg and Rolling Meadows join Central Suburban North representatives Maine West as area teams at the Hoffman sectional. The Saxons’ Santucci tied for tenth in the MSL meet with an 84 while Elk Grove’s Katie DeMeulenaere was 13th with an 86. Jackie Halden and Annie Witt of Conant tied for 20th with scores of 91. Maine West (388) recently finished second to Geneva at the Rolling Meadows Invite while Elk Grove (394) was fourth and Meadows (407) sixth at Arlington Lakes.
