Halloween House Decorating Contest in Schaumburg

The Schaumburg Park District is inviting residents to view the best Halloween-decorated houses in the community — or to count their own among them.

The park district’s annual Halloween House Decorating Contest will take place the evening of Monday, Oct. 22, with decorated homes judged on their originality, arrangement, theme and overall design. Only the first 10 homes entered will be judged, and winning entrants will be featured on the park district’s cable channel and its website, parkfun.com.

Entry forms are available on the website or in the park district’s fall program guide. The forms are due by 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg.

Those wishing to join the Halloween House Decorating Tour and take part in the judging must preregister by 9 p.m. Oct. 18. The fee is $7 for residents and $10 for nonresidents.

The tour welcomes all ages and will leave by bus at 6 p.m. Oct. 22 from the Community Recreation Center at 505 N. Springinsguth Road and return there at 8:30 p.m.

Contest participants cannot be judges, but are welcome to join the tour.

For more information about either entering the contest or registering for the tour, call (847) 490-7020 or visit parkfun.com.
