Halloween pop-up stores offer costume choices
It's getting to be decision time.
Halloween will be here in about a month, and you need to settle on a costume before the parties and trick-or-treating begins.
To help you in your decision-making process, many Halloween specialty shops have opened or are opening up temporarily along Randall Road.
With costumes from Katniss Everdeen ("The Hunger Games") to Mitt Romney, the stores have a variety for you to choose from.
They also have items such as brooms for Harry Potter fans, bulging eyeballs for gore fans and halos for the angels among you.
Many also are filled with spooky decorations to help you scare the little trick-or-treaters in your neighborhood.
Spirit Halloween store has spots all up and down the Randall Road corridor.
On the north end they are in Randall Plaza, at 208 N. Randall Road, Lake in the Hills.
In the middle, there is a spot in South Elgin at The Shops at South Elgin at 354 Randall Road.
And just off Randall Road, there is one in St. Charles at Main Street Commons, 3539 E. Main St. (Route 64).
There also is a slew of Halloween City stores catering to residents in the Fox Valley.
You'll find one in South Elgin at the Silver Glen Crossing, 608 Randall Road.
And at the north end of the Randall Road corridor there is one in Algonquin at 1516 S. Randall Road, in the Algonquin Commons shopping center.
You'll also find a Halloween Express outlet along the Randall Road corridor, offering you even more options.
There is a Halloween Express at 623 Randall Road in Elgin, next to the Golden Corral.
Many of the stores are already open, or will be open by this weekend, giving you plenty of time to shop for your October Halloween gatherings.
Trendy costumes: If you don't want to pay full price for those expensive Halloween costumes that the kiddos will outgrow by next year, you may want to stop into Trendy Tots consignment shop, just off Randall Road at 7020 Huntley Road, in Carpentersville.
The store has Halloween costumes for sale, and is accepting your old ones to sell to others looking for a non-full price costume.
Before the Halloween fun begins, however, the store is hosting a Girls Night Out this weekend.
From 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, Trendy Tots will be offering refreshments and fun at the store.
They'll also give you the latest information on how to consign your clothes. You can learn about what items Trendy Tots accepts, and how to get the most for your money.
They'll have games, and the person with the most correct answers in the game, will win a prize.
The store will have a special preview sale that night, too. New items will be added to the floor at 7:30 p.m. and everyone who is there will get the first peek.
