ECC to exhibit Veterans Arts Project

Submitted by ECC

The Elgin Community College Arts Center, in conjunction with ECC Veterans’ Affairs and the ECC Student Life Office, is asking active military members and veterans to share stories of their military service as part of its ECC Veterans Arts Project.

The ECC Veterans Arts Project is an initiative that offers a forum for veterans to use art in all of its forms, to discover and share their stories of military service.

The arts center is seeking stories of service through narratives, poems, prose, essays, letters, scripts, and original visual art. Send items via email to performingarts@elgin.edu.

The submitted works will be presented and exhibited at a free reception event for veterans, active military, and their families Friday, Sept. 28.

This project is in conjunction with The American Place Theatre’s stage presentation of “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien, which will be in-residence at the ECC Arts Center. A section of the stage presentation will be performed at the ECC Veterans Arts Project reception.

For information, contact the ECC Performing Arts office at (847) 214-7044 or email performingarts@elgin.edu.
