Sad to see DeWitte go

Having lived in St. Charles for more than 55 years I have witnessed and worked with many of our mayors as a resident and a business owner. This is a job which requires significant time commitment, efficiency, great people skills, wisdom and heart. Mayor Don DeWitte has given tremendous amounts of these talents to us.

When I read that Mayor DeWitte would not be running again for mayor, I felt an immediate loss. As the compensation is almost token for the amount of his commitment, my first thought is where will we find another individual to fill his shoes? Who has the resources to give the time without true compensation, with the same energy and focus? Whoever your are, best wishes for the gift to our community.

Thank you, Mr. DeWitte. We have loved the results of all your efforts and drive to keep the heart of St. Charles beating and growing during the worst economic times of our adult lives. The beauty of the city has continued through all of this, in no small part, the focus of Mayor DeWitte. I do recognize that many employees of the city have fulfilled his directions, and I acknowledge this gratefully.

Best wishes to you as you commit your talents to Wine Sergi, a well established insurance organization in St. Charles.
