Boys soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Emanuel Sanchez scored two unassisted goals and then Elgin won in PKs, defeating Marmion 3-2 Saturday to take third place at the St. Charles East boys soccer invitational. Flavio Jaimez had 7 saves in goal for the Maroons (3-11).

Hampshire 7, Christian Liberty 1: Tyler Koppie and Paul Vovacovici each scored twice to lead the Whip-Purs to an easy win in the opening round of the Hampshire tournament. Zack Suthers and Daniel Rodrigues also scored for Hampshire. Andy Pederson made 3 saves in the first half for the Whip-Purs and Cesear Esparza stopped 2 shots in the second half. Hampshire will take on Burlington Central in the semifinals next Saturday.

Burlington Central 3, Rockford Jefferson 1: Bryce Warner scored twice and Brad Yarwood added a goal to lead the Rockets to a win in the opening round of the Hampshire tournament. Brett Rau made 5 saves in goal for Burlington Central (10-2-2).

South Elgin 6, Rockford Auburn 1: Owen Bolt had 2 goals with Jake Hicks, Quinn Uveges and Phil Saccameno adding one each to lead South Elgin at the Hampshire tournament. Michael Cortez (6 saves) and Tyler Shipon (3 saves) shared time in goal for the Storm (5-5-1). South Elgin will play Woodstock North in the semifinals next Saturday.

Huntley 0, DeKalb 0: Auston Emery had 9 saves in goal for Huntley (10-3-1) in this nonconference tie.

Prospect 1, CL South 0: Gus Alvarez made 2 saves and Steven Follmer stopped 2 shots but Crystal Lake South (9-8) couldn’t score in this nonconference loss.

Streamwood 5, Hoffman Estates 0: Mario Rodriguez had a hat trick, while Alajandro Avalos and Luis Rodriguez also scored in Streamwood’s nonconference win. Phil Lewy had 5 saves in goal for the Sabres (9-5).

Men’s soccer

Judson 2, Olivet Nazarene 2: Jason Mock and Walter Lopez scored Judson’s goals in the Eagles’ homecoming tie. Judson is now 3-3-2 for the season.
