Public can vote on name for Shedd Aquarium dolphin

Shedd Aquarium is asking the public for help naming a 4-month-old Pacific white-sided dolphin.

The male calf was born on Memorial Day and has been thriving at the Chicago aquarium.

The public can vote online for one of five names spoken by the indigenous people in coastal southeast Alaska and western Canada, where the dolphins are found. Voting begins Monday and will last three weeks.

The name will be revealed on Oct. 12.

Shedd Aquarium is one of four aquariums in the country that care for Pacific white-sided dolphins.
