Free child car seat check

The Countryside Fire Protection District and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office will provide a child car seat check point from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 22 at Diamond Lake Elementary School, 25807 N. Diamond Lake Road, south of Route 60/83, Mundelein. Seven of 10 child car seats are incorrectly secured in passenger vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This free event is to help parents properly secure their children in appropriate car seats, booster seats and standard seat belts, organizers said. Grandparents are encouraged to participate as well. Technicians will demonstrate correct installations with the car seat simulator, assist with correct child car seat installations and provide supplies and information to maintain correct child car seat positioning.
