Holy Family Medical Center, a long-term acute care hospital in Des Plaines, received the 2012 Delivering Quality with Distinction Award from the Illinois Hospital Association.
The hospital's multidisciplinary approach to reducing infections acquired in the hospital by patients who are on ventilators for a length of time significantly reduced the number of cases of the clostridium difficile infection, or CDiff.
