Naperville North falls to West Aurora
Lauren Carlini had 13 kills and 14 assists, and West Aurora edged host Naperville North 25-23, 26-24 in a matchup of DuPage Valley Conference leaders and defending co-champs.
At 23-23 in the first set, Carlini had back-to-back kills for set point. Tied 24-24 in the second, Peyton McKenzie and Nerissa Vogt put down kills to give West Aurora (15-1, 5-0 DVC) its 11th straight win since a loss to Benet. Corinne Gajcak had 6 kills, Maddi Henry 5, Colleen Larson 8 digs and Emily Kwak 21 assists for Naperville North (11-5, 4-1), which plays at Naperville Central on Thursday.
Waubonsie Valley d. Neuqua Valley:
A Noelle Linden ace and Caroline Cordes block at match point capped off a dramatic Waubonsie Valley rally, as the Warriors came back from down 20-15 in the third set to beat Neuqua Valley 25-21, 22-25, 25-22 on Tuesday in Naperville. Kills by Lauren Lindell and Rachel Minarick tied the third set at 22-22, setting up the dramatic finish.
Minarick had 13 kills, 11 assists, 7 digs and 2 blocks and Lindell 9 kills for Waubonsie (9-8, 2-0 Upstate Eight Valley), which beat Neuqua for the second time this season. Kaylyn Hugdahl led Neuqua (9-11, 1-1) with 11 kills, 6 digs, 2 blocks and 2 aces. Brooke Antenen and Taylor McKeown each added 8 kills.
Benet d. Nazareth:
Cara Mattaliano had 14 kills and 7 digs as the visiting Redwings (15-0, 1-0 East Suburban Catholic Conference) breezed past Nazareth 25-22, 25-12. Nicki Barnes put down 7 kills and Brittany Pavich 6, Hannah Kaminsky had 32 assists and Sheila Doyle 10 digs.
Glenbard South d. Ridgewood:
Kenzie Watterson had 6 kills and 2 aces, Meg Schmalandt 6 kills and the Raiders rolled past Ridgewood 25-11, 25-14. Tomei Ball added 5 kills and an ace, Alex Laponte 21 assists and 2 kills Sydney Bauman 3 kills and 3 blocks for Glenbard South (16-6, 5-0 Metro Suburban Conference).
Metea Valley d. South Elgin:
Lexie Lobdell had 10 kills in leading the Mustangs past South Elgin 25-13, 25-15. Alyssa Ensminger added 12 digs and Katherine Gilmore 3 kills for Metea (9-3, 2-1 Upstate Eight Valley).
