Boys soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Danny Rodriguez and Michael Boutin scored goals and Robert Lucio and Paul Novacovici provided the assists as the Hampshire boys soccer team beat Sycamore 2-0 Friday in the opening game of the Hononegah Invite, the Whip-Purs’ first win of the season.

Andrew Pederson had 7 saves in goal for Hampshire (1-5-1), which will play Rockford Christian and Champaign Central today.

Jacobs 3, Springfield 1: Eric Soto, Kyle Heverdjs and Austin Ryan scored goals with Soto and Tommy Gallagher registering assists to lead Jacobs to a win at Hononegah. Johan Wolf had 4 saves in goal for the Golden Eagles (9-1).

CL South 1, Rockford Guilford 0: Also at Hononegah, Matt Tobolt scored off an assist from Michael Conley in the second half as the Gators handed Guilford just its second loss of the season. Steven Follmer was back in goal for Crystal Lake South (7-5) and had 9 saves. CLS will take on Hersey and East Moline United today.

NSCD 2, Elgin Academy 1: The Hilltoppers suffered their first loss of the season in this Independent School League game. Karl Rauschenberger scored for Elgin Academy, which played without senior Brandon Perez (broken collarbone) for the first time, Armando Sanchez had the assist for the Hilltoppers (3-1-2) and Liam Phalen made 15 saves in goal.
