The annual Hideout Block Party has become one of the city's best fall musical events, and this year's no exception. Guthrie salute

Northlight Theatre opens its season with a centennial salute to folk icon Woodie Guthrie titled “Woody Sez — The Life and Music of Woody Guthrie.” David M. Local punk legends

The band Naked Raygun, which has roots in the suburbs, was one of the fixtures of the early punk scene in Chicago. Raygun's melodic brand of punk influenced numerous bands during the alternative era and beyond, and the band, led by Naperville native Jeff Pezzati, continues to draw enthusiastic crowds. The band will perform at Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave., Chicago, with Dan Vapid and the Cheats in what is being billed as an “after-party” show for Riot Fest, the three-day punk-rock festival taking place in Chicago's Humboldt Park. $25. Civil War Show and Sale
