Boys soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Dundee-Crown’s boys soccer team is on a roll.

The Chargers (9-1) used a balanced offensive attack as 5 different players found the back of the net to earn a 5-0 Fox Valley Conference crossover victory over Hampshire Tuesday, D-C’s ninth straight win.

Alex Ramirez, Paul Buch, Malik Washington, Eduardo Arellano, and Jose Angeles all recorded goals while Jonathan Castillo (2 assists), Ben Stone, Adolfo Balleno, and Arellano each added an assist. Christian Martinez preserved the shutout with 3 saves in goal.

Westminster Christian 4, Harvest Christian 1: Tim Rodgers recorded a hat trick as he led the Warriors (6-1-1, 3-1) to a Northeast Athletics Conference victory over the Lions (3-1-1, 0-1) on the road. Robert Kleczynski recorded the Warriors’ final goal and he also added an assist. Nick Gnan added 2 assists while Will Woodhouse also chipped in an assist. Chris DeSouza recorded the Lions’ only goal in the second half. Sam Carani turned away 3 shots on goal for the Warriors while Patrick McGuire stopped 6 shots on goal for the Lions.

Streamwood 2, Bartlett 0: The Sabres (6-4) played tough defense as they held the Hawks scoreless to earn a victory in their match at the Pepsi Showdown. Alejandro Avalos and Ivan Rosales each recorded a goal while Phil Lewy preserved the shutout with 2 saves in goal.

Aurora Central 4, St. Edward 3 (OT): The Green Wave (3-6, 1-2) were unable to hang on to a 3-2 halftime lead as they lost a heartbreaker 4 minutes into overtime to Aurora Central. Johnny Shepard, Joe French, and Kevin Olenek all recorded unassisted goals for the Wave. Matt Hesch turned away 8 shots on goal.

Elgin Academy 1, Francis Parker 1: Sophomore Tano Xayasarn scored the Hilltoppers (3-0-2) lone goal off a feed from Julian Romano in the second half to earn the draw with Francis Parker. Liam Phalen recorded 7 saves in goal for the Hilltoppers.

St. Charles East 8, Elgin 2: The Maroons (4-3-1, 1-2) fell behind early and couldn’t recover as they suffered an Upstate Eight Conference River Division loss at home. Hernan Estrada recorded both of the Maroons’ goals while Flavio Jaimes turned away 12 shots on goal.

Jacobs 3, Woodstock 0: The Golden Eagles carried a 1-0 lead into the second half and added 2 more insurance goals as they defeated Woodstock in this Fox Valley Conference crossover match. Chris Rigby, Anthony Moscatello, and Kenny Finn each recorded a goal for the Golden Eagles while Eric Soto added 2 assists and Mike Mamola added 1 assist. Johan Wolf recorded 5 saves in goal.

Cary-Grove 6, Crystal Lake Central 0: Kevin Wilde found the back of the net 3 times as his hat trick led the Trojans (7-0-1) to their 6th consecutive victory in this Fox Valley Conference crossover game. Dale Opasser, Mike McKune, and Joey Klawitter rounded out the scoring while Charlie McKune, Mike Conway, Matt Arenberg, Tyler Szydlo, Brett Schuerg, and Kevin Cooke all added 1 assist each. Kevin Schenk turned away the 1 shot he faced in goal.
