Stevenson teacher among finalists for state's best

Andrew Conneen, a political science teacher at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, is one of nine finalists for the 2012-13 Illinois Teacher of the Year, Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announced Monday. They are selected from nominees through ISBE's Those Who Excel educator recognition program. More than 200 nominations were reviewed this year by a selection committee. The winner will be announced during an Oct. 20 banquet at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Normal. The Teacher of the Year will represent Illinois at NASA Space Camp and in the National Teacher of the Year Program. Other suburban finalists are: Brian Curtin, an English teacher at Schaumburg High School; and Robert Lang, who teaches physical science, physics and engineering at Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn.
