Wheeling gets federal grant for victim services

The village of Wheeling is receiving a $66,458 Victims of Crime Act grant to fund the Victim Services Coordinator position in the Social Services Division of its Human Services Department.

The coordinator offers services to victims of crime and their families, such as court-related advocacy, support services, information and referral services, and crisis counseling.

The federal grant provides 80 percent of the funding for the program. The village’s contribution will amount to $16,651.

Wheeling has been receiving funding through the Victims of Crime Act since 2003.
